Paranormal Mapathon

October 6th - October 27th

The theme is...

Paranormal

As expected for October, this Mapathon will send a shiver down your spine! Embrace the supernatural and make a spooky scary map.

Introduction

Mapathons are relaxed events where you can make some small innovative maps, following a given theme. This event is designed for participants of all skill levels! Whether you're brand new to mapping and hoping to learn, or a veteran wanting to try something new, we hope you'll have fun in this Mapathon!

This event is proudly hosted by the Garry's Mod Mapping Community a new Discord community designed to help unite GMod mappers of all skill levels. It's the perfect place to get help with tricky problems, or show off your projects!

Guidelines

You're welcome to map for any Garry's Mod gamemode that you know of! You might like to make a TTT, Murder, or Sandbox map.

If you're interested in the genre, you might also want to try making a Horror map in this Mapathon!

This Mapathon will run for most of October, from October 6th until October 27th. Alterations to submissions are allowed until our playtesting session, which will take place on October 31st.

We're a fairly casual event, so our list of guidelines is pretty simple:

Custom Content

Custom content is great for maps! Our goal is to have maps in this event be as accessible as possible. Please do your best to follow these recommendations:

Judging

Maps will be given a score of 60, based on the following equally-weighted categories:

Judges will be announced at a later date, depending on submissions.

Playtesting

We will run playtesting sessions for Australia and Europe. These playtesting sessions will be held on October 31st, for maximum spookiness.

Prizes

Prizes will not be given if there are less than 10 entries. Multiple submissions will not receive multiple prizes. Prize pool may change before the deadline.

We'll be doing a fun prize pool:

Maps that successfully scare FluffyXVI during playtesting will win an awful cheap horror game, just for fun.

Submission

Maps should be submitted to the Steam Workshop before the deadline. If you need help, feel free to ask in the Discord server.

Submissions should be posted, along with a screenshot, into the Discord server where possible. It is strongly recommended that you join the server, but if you're sure you don't want to, you can contact FluffyXVI on Steam with submissions instead.
